I developed a passion for the West at the age of 14, when I first visited Montana. From that early age, I vowed that I would one day live here so that I could submerge myself in the rustic and romantic culture and traditions. At the age of 19, I made the decision to pack all my belongings and make the 2000 mile trek from the rolling farm country of New York to the mountains of Montana. I had a fleeting interest in photography over the years, but when I arrived, I took a whole-hearted interest in capturing everything I could.
As the years passed I raised a family of my own in the foothills of central Montana, the people of this area became my constant subjects. Portraits are my true passion! I rarely hike alone because of the missed opportunity for a portrait with the Montana landscape behind me. It was easy for me to adapt to the ranching lifestyle because of my background with horses and cattle in upstate New York.
I love combining the simplicity of the relationships with animals, with the stunning backdrops of the ranches I have photographed on over the years. In my opinion, without the people as part of the image it just isn’t as good! Portrait photography has only deepened my love for the West. I love to capture the people, lifestyle and landscape into one image. This is my passion!
